Bronx, N.Y.- For the second consecutive season, the Hunter College men's cross country team earned the City University of New York Athletic Conference Championship title, this weekend at Van Cortlandt Park.
The victory marks the Hawks' 17th title in school history.
Hunter's top five finishers all ranked within the top-ten overall in the men's 8k led by Mateo Penafiel who placed finished in 29:11. He was followed by
Brian Guillermo, last year's Runner of the Year and 2021 individual champion, who crossed the tape in 29:52.
In fifth place overall, Alexander Nyiarov clocked in at a time of 29:56, followed by
Robert Novo and Hengzhu Zhu with times od 30:46 and 31:04, respectively.
Overall, the Hawks finished with a total time of 2:30:50, averaging 30:10 with a team score of 28, the championship's lowest score since 2003.
