Annadale-On-Hudson, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's cross country team secured its best finish of the 2022 season thus far, placing 4th out of a total of 12 teams at the Bard College Fred Pavlich Invitational this weekend.
This was the team's first 6k race of the season, and the Hawks finished with a total score of 106 with an average time of 22:10 with four of five runners finishing in the top-20.
Rookie,
Mateo Penefiel, led all Hawk runners for the day, logging a personal-best 6th place overall individual finish with a total time of 20:17.2, averaging 05:26.4 per mile.
Also finishing in the top-ten was
Brian Guillermo coming in 10th with a time of 20:33.6. He was immediately followed by
Alexander Niyazov, with another personal-best finish in 11th place for a time of 20:48.5.
Junior,
Robert Novo clocked in at 21:26.5 for 19th place. Rounding out runners for Hunter for the day was Elias Garcia. The sophomore completed the 6k in 21:26.5.
Hunter is set to race next Sunday, Oct. 2 at Queensborough Community College.
