NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Hunter College women's tennis team won its seventh straight match and continued its strong start to City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play Saturday afternoon, earning a 6-1 victory over Albertus Magnus.
The Hawks (7-0, 3-0 CUNYAC)Â took control early by sweeping the Falcons (0-7, 0-4 CUNYAC) in all three doubles matches. Isabella Tchij and Ana-maria Bichinashvili earned a 6-3 victory at the top spot, while Sara Novo and Sree Kolla cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 2. Amber Lai and Julia Aksamentova completed the doubles sweep with a 6-0 victory in the third position.
Hunter carried its momentum into singles play, taking five of six matches. Novo turned in a dominant performance at No. 2, earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Bichinashvili followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3.
Lai did not surrender a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4, while Aksamentova added a 6-1, 6-1 win in the fifth position. Kolla rounded out the scoring for Hunter at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
The Hawks return to the court on Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. conference match against Brooklyn College.
